Overview

South London multi-instrumentalist Tom Misch fuses together low-slung hip-hop beats, glittering disco, and noodling jazz instrumentation. The purpose of this album rebrand was to bring out the storytelling aspects of Misch’s wave-like introspection and intuitive musicianship. The visual aesthetic of cyanotype was implemented to envelope memories into the potent, dimensional landscape that is Beat Tape 2.

Record Design

Process

Initially looking to take an illustrative approach in a similar vein to Misch’s previous cover arts, I stumbled across a behind the scenes video Misch filmed explaining how he created the entire album out of his South London bedroom. There was a clip of him standing in front of his bedroom window, which felt like a perfect representation to the essence of the homegrown album.
